Abstract
Megacolon is a clinical disorder of the large in-destine characterized by marked distension and severe constipation or obstipation. The condition may be congenital or acquired We experienced one case of severe megacolon caused accidently by .,chronic lead poisoing in a 57 year-old man, which was suggested after. his bone marrow film disclosed basophilic stippling.
Occasinally, however, plumbism cases do occur as a result of ingestion of lead from bizzare sour
These have included lead nipple-shields, toys, crayons, batteries burned on domestic fires, and even the lead in the print of newspaper used as toilet- tissue, :an this case plumbism was developed :by ingestion¢¥ of ¢¥hefb medicines repeatedly which was, used for treatment of chronic urticaria: Lead poisoning¢¥ was confirmed by qualitative analysis of herb medicine, lead, concentration in blood and urine,delta-ALA, coproporphyrin--and marrow aspiration.
Our experience described here, reemphasizes an important point; basophilic stippling of erythrocytes can be the first, the best, or the only clue to lead poisoning.
